All images published in this work (except for the maps created using a Professional Inkarnate account) were generated through a Professional Midjourney account.

Dr James J. Dillon first used Midjourney in November 2022. He quickly discovered that it is an incredibly powerful tool for content creation at the speed of light. He saw the use of AI tools as the next logical extension into his academic research as a creative digital marketing practitioner.

The Seablight Antilles art style published in May 2025 was created by Dr James J. Dillon by performing more than 180,000 image generations using public domain words and unique concepts created solely within Midjourney from December 2022 – May 2025.

No artist names, company names, brands, or uploaded reference work were used in the creation of Seablight Antilles images within Midjourney.

Any images generated by Midjourney that closely matched existing intellectual property were rejected and ignored.

In addition, Dr Dillon created unique words (such as ‘Hopesail Confederacy’, ‘Masqued Guildas’, and ‘Pyrate Republic’) that became meaningful within Midjourney through repeated generations.

In essence, Dr Dillon developed a unique art style and original setting within Midjourney through tens of thousands of image generations that repeated unique words.

The Seablight Antilles setting guide takes place in 2467 CE, around a century into the BlightHope Epoch.

The BlightHope Epoch is the period following the Seablight Deluge of 2330 CE, which occurred when the extraterrestrial molecule Psychezoa arrived on Earth.

This catastrophic event led to the Century of Deconstruction, as civilization crumbled under the onslaught of Seablight and the rise of mutated creatures.

The BlightHope Epoch blends science-fiction and fantasy tropes with classic pirate stereotypes, Western frontier archetypes, and a pervasive cosmic horror theme to create tension-filled fantastical adventures for players to experience.

Survival in the Blightdark Epoch is a constant struggle against:

  • Seablight: The pervasive, mutagenic force that corrupts the environment and transforms living creatures.
  • Climate Transformation: Earth’s ecosystems have been disrupted by rising ocean levels, increased temperatures, excessive resource exploitation, and  suffocation from the Seablight Deluge.
  • Blighted Tribes: Hostile mutated groups, such as the Mex-Tex madre Hyve and Tyde Kyndrid, pose threats to both land and seafaring travelers.
  • Pyrate Raids: While the Pyrate Code promotes some sense of order, many pyrates still prey on weaker vessels and settlements.
  • Scarcity of Resources: Essential supplies like food, clean water, and fuel are in high demand, leading to fierce competition and high prices.
  • Inter-Faction Conflict: The major factions frequently clash over territory, resources, and ideological differences.

The Antilles Archipelago is a dangerous place, contested by various factions vying for power and survival.

The major factions include:

  • Hopesail Confederacy: A collective of northern island states striving to rebuild civilization and defend against Seablight. They maintain a strong navy and prioritize technological advancement.
  • Pyrate Republic: A loose alliance of southern pyrate factions united under the Pyrate Code, which emphasizes crew equality and a sense of honor among thieves. They are known for their ruthlessness, resilience, and skill in naval warfare.
  • Masqued Guildas: A secretive organisation of merchants and traders who control key ports and trade routes. They are known for their cunning, advanced technology, and distinctive masked appearance.
  • Blighted Tribes: Groups of humans and creatures mutated by Seablight, often led by psychic Blightspeakers. They vary in their goals and levels of organization, from the Spindletop Disciples seeking techno-organic enlightenment to the parasitic Tyde Kyndrid threatening the seas.

The Pyrate Code is a contractual agreement championed by Governor-CaptainBlakbard, co-founder of the Pyrate Republic.

It establishes rules for governing pyrate crews, including:

  • Equal voting rights: All pyrates have a say in important matters.
  • Equal division of plunder: Booty is shared fairly among the crew.
  • Medical support for the injured: Pyrates are entitled to care if wounded in action.
  • Discipline during voyages: Rules are in place to maintain order, such as curfews, prohibitions on gambling, and strict penalties for desertion in battle.

The Pyrate Code has brought a degree of order to the chaotic Southern Antilles, although not all pyrates adhere to it strictly.

  • Hopesail Island: The former Abaco Islands is the capital of the Northern-Teknocracy (Nor-Tek). It also hosts the Hopesail Confederacy’s multinational Forestay Assembly.
  • Habaguanex: The Pyrate Republic’s most notorious port, controlled by the Malvada Armada. It is a bustling hub for trade, but also a center for smuggling, slavery, and vice.
  • Bosque Fresco: A vibrant Yucatán Flotilla port city with a thriving froot trade, protected by the Bravo Dam, which filters blighted material from the Hondo River.
  • Chicxulub Deep Sea Habitat (CDSH): A vast underwater research facility and the headquarters of the Consejo Coralino, believed to hold secrets about Seablight and potentially the future.
  • Encore Station: A bustling Hopesail Confederacy port known for its advanced technology and shipbuilding.
  • Freeport: A lawless hub for traders, smugglers, and mercenaries, controlled by the Nu Providence Aqua Charter Kontore League.

The diverse challenges and opportunities of the Blightdark Epoch have given rise to unique professions, including:

  • Assassinex: Skilled killers for hire, often employed by the Pyrate Republic or Masqued Guildas.
  • Frontier Pharmacist: Specialists in utilizing local flora and fauna for medicinal purposes.
  • Low Blightspeaker: Those who have learned to communicate with Seablight entities, often at great risk to themselves.
  • Meridian Dragoon: Elite Hopesail Confederacy soldiers known for their skill in air and sea combat.
  • Prism Paladin: Members of the Prismatic Order, dedicated to wielding advanced technology for the betterment of humanity.
  • Seehändler: Merchants who navigate the treacherous trade routes, often dealing with multiple factions.
  • Skrap Plunderer: Scavengers who risk their lives searching for valuable Ancestor technology and scrap metal.
  • Skullhunter: Bounty hunters specializing in tracking down and eliminating dangerous criminals and Seablight entities.
  • Tech Operator: Experts in repairing and maintaining the advanced technology crucial for survival in this era.

Saviour Flame is a chlorine trifluoride-based compound developed before the Seablight Deluge.

It is highly effective at neutralizing Psychezoa biomass, making it a valuable weapon against Seablight entities and a key factor in securing territories.

However, its extreme flammability requires careful handling and makes it a dangerous tool in the wrong hands.
