Freeport is a busy Hopesail Confederacy merchant trade port on Southern Freeport Island controlled by the Northern-Teknocracy (Nor-Tek).

Unlike the Nor-Tek bastion of Hopesail Island, Freeport is unwalled and open to non-Confederate merchant ships. The island’s population of 60,000 resident fishermen, crafters, and merchants are free people, around a third of which are Nor-Tek citizens.

The island’s architecture is a rich blend of Northern and Southern Antilles Archipelago cultural styles that fuses art deco with relaxed island shanties. The port is reinvigorated every day by hundreds of traveling traders, wanderers, and drifters. The island hosts an annual Clam Festival and Junkaoo Parade that draws thousands of visitors. Freeport’s security and civility comes at a cost – trade access requires a permit that costs several soldos, and a quarter of all sales go to Nor-Tek coffers.

The recent Night of Flames at the Bight of Betrayal has cast a dark mood over the island. Freeport Governor Jarden Ishmael has intensified coast warden inspections of independent traders, privateers, Confederate citizens, and Windward Island Empresa intermediaries from Empresario.

Administrator’s Office

Nor-Tek’s official administrative centre on Freeport Island, located near the Free Trade Market. One of the largest buildings on the island, its stiff Nor-Tek architecture has been worn down by relaxed Freeport Island culture.

The office’s steel cabinets contain physical trading permits and records of ship ownership. Settlement Principal Administrator Jarden Ishmael can usually be found here.

Free Trade Market

The diverse Free Trade Market offers weapons, material resources, work animals, gadgets, trinkets, and services from across the Antilles Archipelago and Atlantica.

The busy market’s impressive stalls and warehouses are only surpassed in size and diversity by Encore Station’s Atlantischmrkt.
