In response to pyrate skirmishes and unusual incidents occurring across the Lucayan Archipelago in early 2466 CE, Hopesail Confederacy President Consuelo II Platt consulted the HopeNet Adviser Local Conscious Array Droplet (LCAD).
Based on the LCAD’s advice, the President ordered a momentous Conjunction of Task Forces to be mustered. The Conjunction’s mission was to eradicate the Malvada Armada and Legion Cibernetica once and for all.
Hundreds of Confederate military and support vessels arrived at South Habacoa Archipelago in preparation for an attack on Tainos Supremo pyrate ports under the command of Conch Republic Grand Admiral Callahan Kabanaz.
Tragically for the Confederacy, the Conjunction would result in the Night of Flames at the Bight of Betrayal event and the dramatic breaking of its elite Task Forces.
The Night of Flames at the Bight of Betrayal
The Initial Explosion
It’s claimed that the first ship to explode on 22 February was the San Lorenzo. The 200-metre long NuPAC supply liner, on loan from the Azora Guilda, was full of oil when it detonated. The cause of this explosion is still unknown. The massive detonation was quickly followed by NuPAC carracks Oberwon and Skrelex erupting into gouts of flame and shrapnel in close succession. Grand Admiral Kabanaz was powerless to stop the ensuing action.
The NuPAC corvette Zabras promptly fired on the Nor-Tek dreadnought Ascension. The inflamed ships illuminated neighbouring vessels, and flames began to spread towards timber-frame support vessels. Safety tugs and water boats took action to stem the flames and save drowning mariners. The advanced Nor-Tek flagship-destroyer Enchantress unexpectedly began firing upon the Pioneer flagship Salacia, destroying it immediately. Inexperienced captains lost their nerve and more vessels began firing indiscriminately.
Nearly half of The Eleutheran Protectorship’s Sea Choir convoy was sunk. Nor-Tek lost a quarter of its Chrominium-clad vessels to combined Conch Republic, Pioneer, and KLA firepower.
The Conjunction captains gave their crew orders for immediate dispersal. Ships began tacking or flying away towards their home ports.
The Aftermath
In total, 27 vessels were sunk, 25 were heavily damaged, and more than a thousand Confederate sailors lost.
The Bight of Betrayal and Southern Lucayan Archipelago are now infested with pyrate skrap plunderers fighting over valuable wreckage.
Distrust has been sowed within the Hopesail Confederacy, and its factions are now on the verge of civil war.
