The Ahuizotl are predominately avian and feline Blighted Tribe mutants evolved from a network of Symbiotic Seablight proginator tendrils located in the central mountains of the Yucatán Peninsula. Several dozen Ahuizotl Kongresses hold dominion over the former Gulf of Honduras and the fertile expanse of the Yucatán.
These Cambiaformas are called Harpia by the Malvada Armada and Sirena by the Masqued Guildas.
The Ahuizotl are hardy individuals that enjoy freedom and self-sufficiency. They survive through tooth and claw, keen observation, and canny use of Ancestor gadgets. They are skilled scavengers, and can locate hidden caches of food, water, and precious Ancestor technologies. Their nests are a combination of organic materials and abandoned Ancestor shelters that surround flowering shoots of their progenitor tendrils. Their lives are mobile, allowing them to quickly adapt to changing conditions and invading threats
Each Ahuizotl Kongress operates as a semi-autonomous unit with its own Blightspeakers chieftains, and internal dynamics. Some Kongresses feature Cambiaformas ideal for river, marine, or jungle survival. They can navigate treacherous environments and respond to modern threats with preternatural strength and Ancestor weapons. A common ancestral Symbiotic Seablight psychic connection allows the Kongresses to communicate evade more powerful factions, even as they exploit vulnerabilities and opportunities.
The Nahua-Ahuizotl Kongress in particular is known for its resourcefulness, cunning, and aerial dominance. Their swooping aerial hunters are the feared Jinete del Cielo. These armed and armoured warriors leverage their strength, mobilitiy, and autonomy to fight technologically superior foes. Within the Nahua-Ahuizotl a fierce High Blightspeaker, Diosa Caraneque, has emerged. Under her leadership the disparate Ahuizotl Kongresses have navigated worship of the Awakened Path with independent survival in the outer fringes of the Mex-Tex Madre Hyve control.
The Ahuizotl maintain a loose sense of kinship and shared identity, forged through collective challenges and a shared worldview. Their fluidity and adaptability make them unpredictable allies or adversaries, depending on the circumstances. Their knowledge of the Gulf of Honduras and Yucatán Peninsula, coupled with their access to hidden resources, grants them leverage when dealing with well-equipped factions and Parasitic Seablight Entities seeking to gain a foothold in their mountainous landscape.
As Blighted Tribes actively hunt unblighted humans, and hostilities between Parasitic and Symbiotic Seablight Madre Hyves intensify, the Ahuizotl may have an influential role to play in the Antilles Archipelago. It remains to be seen whether the Ahuizotl will act as mediators, opportunists, disruptors, or conquerors.
2456 CE: High Blightspeaker Disoa Caraneque senses that the Kaanite Pyrates based in the Northern Yucatán Peninsula intend to encroach into Ahuizotl territory. Summoning the Kongresses, she proactively leads the sacking of the Kaan Kun pyrate coastal enclave.
Jinete del Cielo Hunting Packs use Ancestor energy weapons to obliterate the pyrate’s heavy weapon defences, while deadly Cambiaformas emerge from land and sea to prey on citizens.
The city burns and the Kongresses escape with minimal losses.
Kaan Kun’s inhabitants would be raided again by the Malvada Armada in 2461 CE, its people enslaved and all-but-destroying a once promising settlement.
