This page provides an index of the key concepts unique to the Seablight Antilles setting.

KEY CONCEPTS

Ancestor Gadgets, Relics: Advanced self-powered technologies created in the 24th century before the Blighthope Epoch. Highly valued by factions, seafarers, and plunderers.

Androide: An organic-synthetic humanoid. It has either been manufactured with a synthetic brain and body, or is a human with an uplifted brain modified with Cerebrosnyth Solution and nano-particles.

Awakened Blighter: A Blighter that has been consumed, transformed, and re-spawned by an Apex Seablight Entity or Madre Hyve into a strengthened form.

Basic Roleplaying Universal Game Engine (BRP): The flexible and modular roleplaying game system created by Chaosium Inc. The Seablight Antilles setting guide is designed to be played using BRP.

BlightHope Epoch: The current era of humanity sparked by the discovery of Psychezoa. It includes Psychezoa’s planet-fall to Earth, the Seablight Deluge commencing in 2330 CE, the Century of Deconstruction, and the Solar and Spaceblight Wars.

Blighter: A human that has been transformed into a mindless or entrhalled zonbi,skin-pod, or cocoon through prolonged contact with a Seablight tendril (Seablight Touch), or through a vector organism incision. Even when a Blighter loses its direct connection to a hyve network, they will continue to operate on the hyve’s behalf through a combination of cellular reprogramming and psychic mind control. Their bodies deteriorate within a few days without physical and psychic nourishment.

Blight Swarm: Insect-sized blighted creatures disgorged from a Seablight nest or hyve.

Blightsense: The psychic Nöuspheric connection between a blighted human and a Seablight nest, Hyve, or Entity. Blightsense can range from passive awareness of a Madre Hyve pulse to powerful Blightspeaker powers, including Mind Control and Divination.

Cambiaformas: Humans transformed by a Symbiotic Seablight Nest, hyve, or Madre Hyve tendril into a hybrid mutant form.

Ciber Cangrejo: Ciber-enhanced Parasitic Seablight Entities created by the Spindletop Disciples.

Century of Deconstruction: The initial 100 years of the Blightdark Epoch that followed Psychezoa’s planet-fall to Earth and the Seablight Deluge. A dark time that includes the Second Solar War and the dramatic fall of the Stellar Triarchy.

Cerebrosynth Solution: A synthetic cerebrospinal fluid developed in the late 21st Century that enables biocomputers, extensive physical augmentations, and long-distance space travel.

Chrominium: A high-strength chromium and titanium alloy developed in the 23rd Century.

Crystal Matrix: The metaphysical outer structure of the fourth-dimensional Nöuspheric Vacíx.

Divine Haüyne: A Local Conscious Array Droplet (LCAD) that resides in the Aurora Sanctuary in Purtian’s Harbour. The Divine Haüyne is protected and worshiped by the Prismatic Order and Followers of the Azurite Faith.

Daemon Data: A powerful but localised Ancestor AI avatar that follows a programmed routine.

Disciple Drone: An Ancestor robot corrupted to serve the Markeena Arkana Board.

Faro-Vector Point: A three-dimensional stellar location where Newtonian reality intersects with the Nöuspheric Vacíx’s metaphysical outer Crystal Matrix.

First Solar War: A series of escalating space battles fought between Earth, Luna, and Mars from 2241 – 2247 CE. The First Solar War resulted in the formation of the Stellar Triarchy.

High Angel: An Earth-spanning orbital ring constructed between 2255-2293 CE. The first LCAD, the High Angel Orbit, was formed during its construction. The majority of the ring was destroyed in 2348 CE during the Second Solar War, forming a deadly debris-strewn orbit.

HopeNet Advisor: A Local Conscious Array Droplet (LCAD) controlled by Nor-Tek’s Closed Council. The Advisor is connected to a lone decaying Earth satellite that provides its superior intelligence of the Antilles Archieplago. The Advisor also assists Foundation and Security Members of the Hopesail Confederacy through the HopeNet Intranet.

Lampshade Accelerator (LA): An advanced spin-polarised fusion accelerator developed in the 24th Century by parIkSaka Corporation engineer Ozwald Leighbowitz. Named after the engine’s bell-lampshade shape, the accelerator consumes pellets of pre-polarised deuterium fuel to generate lift and acceleration with minimal ionising radiation generation. Terrestrial vessels powered by LA systems switch to closed-cycle turboramjet rockets when close to settlements to reduce the impact of heat radiator propellant ejection.

Local Conscious Array Droplet (LCAD): A sentient artificial intelligence system created in the 23rd Century following development of the Trinaric mathematical language. The first LCAD achieved self-consciousness in 2275 CE during construction of the High Angel Earth orbital ring ultra-mega project. Autonomous LCADs began to self-replicate and spread across the solar system to assist humans with complex tasks. Examples within Seablight include the HopeNet Advisor, the Imperial Omeyocan Consul, Alkbulkan’s Gran Mèt, the Chicxulub Data Diver, and the Prismatic Order’s Divine Kaleidoscope. Some LCADs have become corrupted, such as the Spindletop Disciples’ Crimson Cloud and the Aggressive-Mastermind (AM) LCAD that manipulates the Mascarada Cabala.

Markeena Arkana Golem: An Ancestor kill-or-capture robot used by the Spindletop Disciples.

Nöusphere: A psychic fourth-dimension powered by alpha and gamma radiation particles. The Nöusphere has a vast inner Vacíx surrounded by a metaphysical Crystal Matrix that intersects with Newtonian reality at Faro-Vector Points.

Parasitic Seablight: The original strain of Psychezoa that made planet-fall on Earth in 2327 CE and resulted in the Seablight Deluge, Century of Deconstruction, and Blightdark Epoch.

Progenitor Tendril: The original seed for a Parasitic or Symbiotic Seablight nest or hyve.

Psychezoa: A parasitic alien compound discovered on the metallic asteroid 16 Psyche in 2314 CE. Psychezoa formed Spaceblight and Seablight and led to the Blighthope Epoch.

Pyrate Code: A contractual agreement made by the crew of a pyrate gang. Created and championed by Pyrate Republic co-founder Governor-Captain Blakbard, the code ensures voting rights, equal division of plunder, and medical support for the injured.

Rotation: One full Earth year.

Saviour Flame: A Chlorine Trifluoride-based compound developed by the Mars Research Institute in 2381 CE. Effective at neutralising Psychezoa biomass. Highly flammable.

Seablight Deluge: The years immediately following Psychezoa’s planetf-all on Earth. The Seablight Deluge resulted in the Century of Deconstruction and the Blightdark Epoch.

Seablight Entities: Creatures spawned by Seablight Madre Hyves. These include Swarms, Predator Entities, Apex Entities with powerful psychic abilities, and Titanic constructs.

Seablight Hyve: A Parasitic or Symbiotic Seablight cluster that can grow up to several square kilometres in size. Hyves generate a local psychic pulse and spawn Seablight Entities.

Seablight Madre Hyve: A major Parasitic or Symbiotic cluster of psychic Seablight biomass that can grow to 100 square kilometres or more in size. Madre Hyves generate radioactive psychic pulses that can be felt globally, and can span monstrous Apex Seablight Entities.

Seablight Nest: A Parasitic or Symbiotic psychic Seablight cluster up to one square kilometre in size. May transform organics and spawn small Seablight Swarms.

Seablight Touch: The moment an organism makes contact with a Seablight tendril or vector. The human may be consumed, enthralled as a Kongregan, or transformed into a Cambiaformas.

Second Solar War: A total war within the Stellar Triarchy that took place from 2347 – 2383 CE between Earth, Luna, Mars, Saturn, and other stellar colonies.

Serpiente Marina: Ciber-enhanced blighted sea snake monstrosities created by the Spindletop Disciples in their biofactories. Serpeinte Marina patrol the Golfo de Mexico.

Spaceblight: The space-based Psychezoa infestation that has spread across the Solar Triarchy.

Star Sparkers: According to Parasitic Blightspeakers, the Star Sparkers are a powerful interstellar space civilisation that originally seeded the Psychezoa compound discovered on 16 Psyche and that created Spaceblight and Seablight. Blightspeakers suggest that a Cosmic Plan will come to fruition through an Awakened Path. The Path leads to an organic singularity on Earth and fourth-dimension uplift for its integrated Awakened Minds. Madre Hyves preach this message through psychic pulses; psychic-empowered Blightspeaker Enunciations to a Kongress; and dreaming spores pollinated by human cocoons. Those impregnated with a spore have reported experiencing vivid dreams of a gregarious feathered serpent spirit that gently preaches the benefits of the Awakened Path.

Stellar Conscious Array (SCA): A powerful sentient artificial intelligence that evolved from the merger of several Local Conscious Array Droplets (LCADs). The SCA’s central cluster resides on the asteroid 253 Mathilde in the intermediate Main Asteroid Belt. The SCA has maintained a neutral and isolated stance during the Blighthope Epoch.

Terror of the Tydes: A Titanic Apex Seablight Entity formed by Tyde Kyndrid sacrifices.

War of the Mexicano Succession: A Transatlantica war between global power-blocs caused by the death of Solar Emperador Agustín III Hellú-Valasco in 2461 CE. Following Agustin III’s sudden demise, the UCC detained Agustín’s heir, Sotomayor-Francisca I, and installed the puppet ruler Minitrillion to the Imperial Solar Throne. Portrasila and the Masqued Guildas have responded by hiring privateers, presenting Letters of Marque, and undermining the usurper’s position. The war is still under-way.
