Named after the engine’s bell-lampshade shape, the accelerator consumes pellets of pre-polarised deuterium fuel to generate lift and acceleration with minimal ionising radiation generation. Terrestrial vessels powered by LA systems switch to closed-cycle turboramjet rockets when close to settlements to reduce the impact of heat radiator propellant ejection.

Local Conscious Array Droplet (LCAD): A sentient artificial intelligence system created in the 23rd Century following development of the Trinaric mathematical language. The first LCAD achieved self-consciousness in 2275 CE during construction of the High Angel Earth orbital ring ultra-mega project. Autonomous LCADs began to self-replicate and spread across the solar system to assist humans with complex tasks.
